Indian Head Massage

What is Indian Head Massage Therapy?

For our Indian Head Massage in Cambridge we practice a westernised style of the Ayurvedic Indian Head Massage. The focus is on massaging acupressure points with various techniques on the shoulders, neck, scalp and face. This massage technique can help reduce headaches, tension, physical and mental stress and improve emotional wellbeing. Traditionally in Asian countries this massage is performed at celebrations such as weddings, or between family members as a sign of respect and passing on of good health between the generations.

  • Promotes natural hair strength and growth
  • Reduces headaches, built up tension and muscle stiffness
  • Can renew and balance emotional and mental wellbeing
  • Improves circulation of cerebral spinal fluid

What to expect from an Indian Head Massage in Cambridge

Indian Head massage can be performed with or without oil, and can be performed clothed if you prefer. The treatment is generally found to be most comfortable laid on a couch, or can be adapted as a seated massage. It begins with massage of the upper back and shoulders, before moving up into the neck. You will then be asked to turn over to lie on your back before the massage continues on the neck, into the scalp and finishes with a gentle facial massage.
